work with dad

Shane had a nice, long overnight in Portland last weekend.
Taking Kade to Monterey, CA (pre-blog) was the last time
he was on "dad's plane," so I decided to take the kids last weekend.

2 mornings with 2 kids @ 5 am and they were super good travelers. Might actually do it again soon! The ride on the shuttle bus from the parking lot to the terminal was just as exciting as the flight for Ms. Kendal. Shane welcomed his 2 special guests on his pre-flight announcement and they both thought it was so funny to hear dad talking over the intercom.

Nothing beats a nice bed @ the Marriott. Nothing beats a 2 yr old that gets the big bed while dad takes the pull-out couch. Such a nice guy he is. :) Always taking one for the team.

Shane has had Shingles the past couple of weeks...not fun. So I was the lucky one to swim in the unheated (brrrr) indoor pool with the kids. Something about a hotel pool...kids dig it.
They loved it. I didn't thaw out all night.

Non-revving was a little stressful. Missed the first morning flight because it was oversold but we were able to make Shane's flight home so it all worked out.

This is good for me to do occasionally. I often think he is living the life. Quiet hotel, eating out, no bickering kids, matinee movies etc. But it's life on the road, away from us...and it isn't always easy.
Thanks for letting us tag along & thanks for all you do Shane!

*Next stop...Cody, WY. I have heard the pool there can't be beat!* :)

Glad you survived non-revving - looks like a fun trip! If we ever go to the airport just to ride the shuttle bus (Caulder's favorite thing, too) we'll be sure to invite Kendal! And Glad Shane survived shingles. That doesn't look like any fun at all.

That was whole lot of fun to have you come along. A little more stress that morning than I would have liked but it all worked out. I loved seeing the kids smiling faces when I looked back down the isle. Please do it again sometime. Next time minus the shingles.

If I was on a flight and the pilot announced that his kids & wife were onboard I would be sooooo thrilled.
You are one awesome family.

You need to do that on a flight to Atlanta. We have two pools in our neighborhood and we have the Braves.
