Christmas 08'...things I don't want to forget.

  • Kade now LOVES to brush his teeth while jammin' to his new "Tooth Tune" toothbrush that plays Bare Necessities.  Go figure.
  • Although Kendal got her own lovely plastic bling, she still prefers mom's jewelry.
  • Kids cookin' up Raspberry Soup and Cokes using Kendal's new kitchen.
  • Toy Story Slinky Dog made this little 3-year old so happy.
  • Although Shane had to work Christmas morning, we woke the kids up a little early and we were sure glad he could be there to enjoy the magic of Christmas with us.
  • Kade was excited for Jesus' birthday.  Hope he will always remember that is why we celebrate.
  • Enjoyed Enya's new "And Winter Came" CD.  A new holiday favorite here.
  • Kendal snuggling down in her new doll bed Christmas morning and the bottom breaking out.  The look on her face was priceless!
  • Special addition to my Nativity.  Love my new goat & ox.
  • The kids not quite grasping the concept of Candy Land...hey we tried.
  • Kendal running around the house in her plastic heels pushing her new jogging stroller.
  • Kade & his new racing helmet.  Uses the mic like a bluetooth,  love the many conversations I have overheard this past week.
  • Even with all the new toys...Kade played all day yesterday with the Madagascar lion from the cereal box.
  • Kade crying uncontrollably as I took down the tree...so sad Christmas is over.
(This is my way of journaling...so lots of pics to follow)

"Oh fuuudggge."

I know that everyone is bombarded with sweets right now but I must post the yummiest recipe for fudge.  I had this last year and decided to make it this holiday.  I am not a fan of fudge usually,  but this isn't your run of the mill fudge.  More like a toffee buttery melt in your mouth fudge. I had it for breakfast & lunch today.

Trust me...you won't be disappointed.

Symphony Fudge

4 C sugar
1 pint whipping cream
2 large Symphony toffee/almond bars (you can use Reeses, Hersheys, etc.)
2 sticks butter

In large pot mix the sugar & cream.  Stir well and bring to boil.

While boiling, add 2 sticks of butter.  (Do not touch the sides or bottom of pan while stirring in the butter.)

Boil to the soft-ball stage(230 degrees),  using a candy thermometer.

Add the Symphony bars and beat with an electric mixer.

Pour into a greased 9x13 pan and chill for 5-6 hours.

YUM!

Cookie Cutters for this tough little cookie

After a failed attempt to get the wild child's first haircut earlier this week, I took her to Cookie Cutters to give their "entertain while they cut" style a try.  Seriously...amazed that she sat through and let the girl chop away.  Whatever works right?

Pre-game warmup

All buckled in.

"This isn't so bad."

Kade watchin' Cars.
Lesson that he is learning early on...waiting on girls to do their hair.

Almost done.

As Kendal says, "Ta da!"

Can't believe how grown-up she looks.
Bubbles, a ballon & a sucker and we were gone.
All without 1 tear being shed.

What more could you ask for?

Lighting it up

After 4 years in our home...we decided to finally get lights up this year.
(Shane did have 10 days off...a lot of projects were completed) :-)
Shane risked life and limb to climb on the roof and get the job done.
Thanks to Shane we are somewhat festive this year.

Our nightly entertainment after bath time has been driving by
and seeing (as Kade calls it) the "dancin' lights."

Maybe next year we will upgrade to the dancin' lights...ok maybe that is pushing it.
Enjoy-

Retirement rocks!

After 20 years at 5th District Court...my mom is gonna take it easy.
(Guess I will have to look else where to get updates on previous boyfriends & such that frequented the courts.) :-)
She is looking forward to cooking again, finishing a few of the hundred quilting projects that she has started on and just taking it easy! (I won't be surprised when I find out that she is working at the local Gymboree...her real dream job.)
The family all got together Friday night at Rusty's in Cedar City to celebrate and we all had the sickies here and decided not to go to share our love.
She has always been so generous with helping us and making sure the grandkids always are taken care of...or spoiled.  She has taught me the value of an education and how to work hard and be responsible in all that I do.  I appreciate all that she has done & continues to do.
Love you mom.

Happy Retirement!
