How to relax in Maui...

  • Make sure you remember you ear buds in case you are sitting next to the 4 yr old Ramona Quimby look-a-like. Trust me...your 6 hr flight will go much smoother.

  • Try to not wake up @ 4:00 am everyday. That 4 hr time difference will get you everytime.

  • Wake up to this scene @ 4:00 am...not too bad.

  • Make sure you find a hawaiian plate lunch. Preferably right on the beach.

  • Don't think just because you got a spray tan a week prior...you won't burn!

  • Do some snorkeling...James Bond style.

  • Always wear a flower in your hair.

  • Order the Shrimper's Delight @ Bubba Gumps in Lahaina. Chilled shrimp, coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, tempura shrimp...YUM!

  • Get a kick out of this sign, among others while you are there.

    • Stock up on snacks when you gas up for the 6 hr round trip winding "Road to Hana."

    • Stop and see dolphins at one of the lookout points on the way to Hana.

    • Hana is nicknamed "Highway to Heaven." More like "Highway to Hell." NOT for anyone that gets car sick!

      • Take a hike to the Oheo Gulch.

        • Swim after your hike.

        • Always cannonball it!

          • Reward yourself with the yummiest shaved ice/ice cream for actually surviving the road to Hana.

            • Enjoy a sunset or two.

            • Enjoy some ice cream while waiting for the sunset.

            • Eat here.

            • Smile lots, because you have been asked several times if you are on your honeymoon.

            • Listen to some nice Jack Johnson-ish entertainment @ dinner.

            • Take your flip flops off @ the Hula Grill Barefoot Bar.

            • Enjoy one of these.

            • But stay clear of the guy with the bird.

              • Watch this guy become one with the sand & bury himself over & over for several hours.

              • Take a good book to read on the beach...but actually end up watching the guy above.

              • Make sure you get a pedicure so you can snap pics like this.

              • Take several walks on the beach & talk about how much the kids would love it here. (Shane has been doing some research since we got back and apparently the best time to non-rev to Maui is in October. Wants to take the kids this fall...we will see)

              Maui...I miss you!

Did Shane at least try one bite of shrimp???

Looks like a totally fantastic time. I can see why you didn't want to leave!

What a great way to document your trip. You are so clever. And I'm calling your spray tan lady if we can ever leave for a cool vacation. Mandalay Bay with a little Lion King in the mix, perhaps?

I bet sand guy was the highlight of your trip. Can we come in october? We promise to be really good and not too loud on the airplane ride. And we'll eat all our shrimp, and even make Cole bury himself in sand all day just for your entertainment.

It looks gorgeous there. How fun! What a fun trip. I guess if everyone was asking if it was your honeymoon, it means you still look really young. Lucky you.

that post was awesome! How come I didn't get any of the writing talent in the family? Not fair!
