9/11

Doesn't seem like 7 years ago.
We were living in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the time.
This was the view from our apartment balcony.
Shane was flying around the Caribbean for American Eagle.
Life was good.  So we thought.

Such a young looking fella.
*another picture that he will be thrilled I posted*

Things changed fast with his job after 9/11.  Furloughed  & back to Utah we came.
Scary time for everyone.  Never thought I would be able to live with Shane choosing the career he did. (luckily I got over the anxiety)  Still can't believe 9/11 happened.  Something I will never forget.
I am sure we all remember exactly where we were at when it took place.
Please share...

(Oh & Happy Birthday dad...I am sure I'll never forget your birthday either) :-)

6 telling it like it is:

I can't believe how your life was affected by all of that. What a scary time. And yes, we are always on the same page :)

Holy...did Shane get his pilots license when he was 7? The only thing I can think of is pre-9/11 they didn't require a high school graduation to enter into the pilot program. I guess he just knew early on what he wanted to do. Does he have any plans to go back and get his GED?

Is that really Shane? I thought that was just a picture you got off the internet.

When Shane's brother Brian saw this picture he asked, "Is that Shane or a kid dressing up for Halloween?"

Once he was in the airport in his uniform and was waiting for a flight and an elderly lady said, "Are you our pilot on this flight?" Shane was jump seating so he was in uniform but not flying. (Just catching a ride home) He told the lady no, and she gasped, "Oh, good. You don't look old enough to fly a plane." Shane loved that. :-)

I can't get over that photo. I would freak out if a boy pilot like that was at the helm. Did he make noises with his armpits whilst flying? Ask for milk and cookies? Nappy?

ok. sorry.

I can't imagine the fear that would live in me if I were in your shoes as a pilot's wife at that time. You have always braved through the travel, etc of Shane's career. I guess this is maybe at the top of the list, though.

I remember like it was yesterday getting a call from Jer on route to work in the morning telling me to turn on the news. I was describing on the phone what I was seeing on tv when the second plane flew in. I literally dropped the phone and began sobbing. I was changed forever.

Are the doors in Puerto Rico all 9 feet tall?
