Just like that.

I have this picture hanging on my fridge. (sorry it is scanned, poor quality)
This was taken just over 3 years ago when we were in Baltimore visiting Shane's brother for his graduation from dental school.

It is my daily reminder to remember how quickly life can change.
One day I was enjoying a night out at the ballpark and just 3 days later, I found myself in the ICU @ Utah Valley.
26 weeks pregnant with the Kademan & very sick with bacterial pneumonia.
Chest tube, feeding tube & ventilator.  The whole works.
Worried about who had won American Idol...a whole other story in it's self. :-)
Not a fun couple of weeks for everyone involved.

We just celebrated Kade's 3rd birthday over the weekend.  He truly is a miracle boy to me.
I feel so blessed to be his mom.  His birthday combined with the numerous tragic accidents happening this past week or so have really made me think about this picture & the feelings that it brings to me.
  • Life is too short to be bitter.
  • Grudges don't do any good.
  • Does no good to worry about things that I can't control.
  • Delight in doing the routine things in life.  I don't take those things for granted anymore.
  • Live each day fully and be joyful.
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words.
This picture truly is to me.

I remember your sister telling me all about you going to the ICU. Sounds like scary times. It is the trials in our lives that always make us stronger. You do look great through and you sure have an adorable family.

I remember worrying about you for days during that time. Has it really been 3 years?

When you came out of it with no complications and then Kade came healthy and beautiful I was so relieved and so happy for you.

It's a great list. Thanks for sharing all you learned from that experience.
Looking forward top seeing photos of that handsome birthday boy!

That is when I first heard about you, Patty kept us all updated about you, our whole family was worried about you and we didn't even know you. Thanks for the post, its always good to be reminded of how fleeting life is.

Loved catching up on your blog! Happy Belated Anniversary! You guys look so cute! (I think we had the same wedding dress)
I think I remember you telling me about your horrible expereince when you were pregnant with your son. I am so glad that you are both healthy. I totally agree with you about life being so precious! Sometimes it does take something so tragic to help remind us how short and precious life is, and how lucky we are to have the knowledge of a loving Heavenly Father.
